Closing Ceremony of the 13th School for Young Leaders of President Ivanov
The Closing Ceremony of the 13th School for Young Leaders of President Ivanov took place on September 29th, 2022, in Hotel Inex Olgica Ohrid.
The thirteenth School for Young Leaders of President Ivanov, on the general topic “Moral Leadership”, was held in the period September 16-30, 2022 in a combined edition, online and in person. The Offcial Opening was held on September 16, 2022 at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Skopje, followed by online lectures in the period from September 17-23, 2022. From September 25-29, 2022, the program continued live in Ohrid.
President Ivanov closed the 13th School for Young Leaders on the topic “Moral Leadership”. At the ceremonial closing session, in addition to President Ivanov, the former President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Klaus, also addressed, who also gave a lecture to the participants of the school during the day. President Ivanov presented certificates to the participants who followed the entire program and successfully completed the school and awarded certificates of appreciation to the supporters and co-organizers. The school was successfully completed by 37 participants from Macedonia and abroad, who had the opportunity to follow lectures by twenty lecturers from Macedonia and abroad.
At the Official Opening of the school, a greeting letter addressed to the participants from His Holiness Pope Francis was read, which was on the general theme of this year’s school, Moral Leadership. Speakers st the Opening Session were Bishop Mgr. Dr. Kiro Stojanov, the Mayor of Novo Selo Gjorgje Bozinov, and maestro Simon Trpchevski.
During the 13th School for Young Leaders, lectures for the participants were given by: Vaclav Klaus, former President of the Czech Republic, Denis Ilitch, President of Ilitch Enterprises; Andrew Paykoff Jr., President of Niagara Bottling Company, Sani Sener, Chief Executive Officer and President of TAV Airports; Ece Ciftici, Chairman of the Board of SocialBen Foundation; Eser Cevahir, Board Member of Javahir; Cordell Carter, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute; prof. Dr. Thomas Guderian, professor of anthropology at the University of Texas; prof. Dr. Robert Sterken, professor of political science at the University of Texas; Gozde Dizdar, Founder and CEO of GD Global; Ambassador Zoran Dabić, former ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the OSCE, NATO; prof. Victoria Trajkov, Ph.D., professor of political marketing at the University of Tourism and Management; Rashela Mizrahi, Member of Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia; Dr. Aleksandar Mitov, public health expert; Zoran Kostovski, Director of the company for business education, management consulting, education and training “Motiva”; Aco Momcilovic, co-founder of the Global Al Ethics Institute in Croatia; prof. Dr. Atanas Kirjakovski, professor of psychology at the International Balkan University.
The program included a visit to the Municipality of Ohrid, where the participants were addressed by the Mayor of Ohrid, Kiril Petsakov. One of the activities for the participants was work in groups on a project for a digital solution for the promotion of tourism in Ohrid, and the final projects were presented to the Mayor of Ohrid, with the possibility of further implementation of the best project.
There were also three panels that dealt with the main topic from different aspects. Participants in the three panels were: Dr. Kosta Milkov, President of the Balkan Institute for Faith and Culture; prof. Dr. Milan Djordjevic, professor at the Faculty of Theology at the University “St. Clement of Ohrid”; Rev. Canon Charles Cleverly, Former Rector, St. Aldates, Oxford; prof. Dr. Ali Pajaziti, professor at the University of Southeast Europe in Tetovo; Rashela Mizrahi, Member of Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia; Dr. Aleksandar Mitov, public health expert; prof. Dr. Atanas Kirjakovski, professor of psychology at the International Balkan University; amb, Jovan Donev, former ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia; prof. Dr. Metodi Hadji Janev, associate professor of legal sciences at the “General Mihajlo Apostolski” Military Academy in Skopje; prof. Dr. Zoran Ivanov, a member of the international entrepreneurship department at TOBB ETU and prof. Dr. Katerina Veljanovska Blazevska, a university professor, and expert in public policies and strategic communications. The moderator of one of the panels was prof. Dr. Anis Sefidanis, University of Information Sciences and Technologies “St. Apostle Pavle” Ohrid, who also had other roles during the program, as moderator of the discussion after the organized screening of a film, a presentation of the first digital monument in Macedonia, which is also his work, etc.
Moderators of this year’s 13th School for Young Leaders were Daniel Gjoceski, who led the online part of the program, and Gordica Karanfilovska, who moderated the program in Ohrid. and was also in the role of a lecturer at the school this year. The moderator of the opening ceremony was prof. Dr. Katerina Veljanovska Blazevska, a university professor and expert in public policies and strategic communication.
As before, President Ivanov’s School for Young Leaders is supported by the private sector, and this year the supporters are companies; Hotel Inex Olgica Ohrid, TAV Macedonia, Turkish Airlines, Delfino, Vitaminka, Alkaloid, Petrol Oil, A1 Makedonija, Croatia Insurance, Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton Skopje, MNA-CA, Tikvesh, Skopje Brewery, DMS, Comfy Angel, Motiva, etc.
The School for Young Leaders is an initiative of President Gjorge Ivanov that began at the start of his first term. The first International Training for Young Leaders was held in 2010. Since then, during the 13 trainings so far, around 520 young people from the country and abroad have participated, with different academic and professional focus. Before the thirteen generations of participants of the School for Young Leaders, lectures were given by over 270 renowned lecturers from the Republic of Macedonia, Europe and the world. In 2018, President Ivanov’s School for Young Leaders project was declared the best socially responsible project in Europe for 2017 by the World Investment Forum of Business Angels.
